Fr. Marcial Maciel, 87, founder of the Legion of Christ and Regnum Christi Movement, died Wednesday in the USA. I met him — "Nuestro Padre" as he is often called — personally a few times but never had the chance to speak individually with him. I think his legacy to the Church and to the world will be the refreshing, deep, and purposeful spirituality that so many, like myself, found attractive in following Christ and striving to be faithful to the Church and the Holy Father and Bishops in Communion with him and charity towards all regardless of their state of life or individual situation. I many ways today I feel
the same as somewhat similar to the days of loss of my hometown pastor, Fr. Kazimierz Zastawny (1931-2005), and of Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
